August Glaze Application - Santa Monica
- Class Outline
850 Pico Blvd
Santa Monica, CA 90405
Learn the endless possibilities for glaze application in this four week course, taught by our Glaze Manager Kathryn Hillier. This is a great way to learn techniques you haven't seen before, to fine-tune the methods you already know, and to become more adept at the glazing process overall. We'll cover all kinds of materials and methods, including dipping, using the spray booth, wax resist, underglaze, slip, engobes, and lava and crawl glazes. Class sessions are three hours to allow for plenty of time for instruction, hands-on time, and Q+A with the instructor.
As this class is all about the glazing process, students are required to bring in their own bisque pieces. If you aren unable to have any bisqueware ready for the first class, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will help. Open studio hours are available to you during this course for you to make your pieces and have them bisque fired.
Potters of all skill levels from beginning to advanced are welcome in this class. You should have enough experience to make pieces on your own so that you have items to glaze during class. If you've completed a Beginning Wheel or Beginning Handbuilding course, this is a great next step.
