In this beginner-friendly workshop, taught by Brazilian artist Lucas Pincer-Flynn, you will learn to hand build and color realistic or stylized animal sculptures and capture the essence of your chosen animal.

Take part in the ancient tradition of sculpting animals! Lucas will review key principles of sculpture design and will demonstrate how to make considerations about style, emotion, and storytelling when creating an animal sculpture. There is no one way to sculpt a specific animal, as each one is unique not only in shape, but personality - and so is your way of sculpting! You’ll learn two useful methods of hand-building: pinch pots and coils, and will learn to choose which method works best for each part of your animal’s body.

After the shape is created, you will learn tips and techniques on how to add details and convey emotions to your animal’s face and body language. Lucas will provide hands-on help to each individual person.

Your work will be ready for pickup in 3 weeks after the date of the workshop, you will be notified via email.

Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before the start time of class, if you miss your class, or arrive too late to participate.
