This class is designed to improve your speed and consistency in making wheel thrown objects while creating high-functioning, stackable and durable dinnerware sets: plates, mugs, and bowls. You will leave with a cohesive and personal body of work for the dinner table.
It is recommended that you are already comfortable working on the potter’s wheel and can make basic pottery forms. Lower-skilled makers will be pushed to move faster and execute the throwing steps with confidence; higher-skilled makers will be challenged to achieve new levels of creativity. Everyone will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy this journey.
To get the most out of this class, we recommend you feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in Beginning Wheel, and can somewhat reliably wedge, center, and throw 2.5-3 lbs of clay. Typically, students take Beginning Wheel twice before taking Continuing Wheel.
SLS's recycled studio clay and firing for up to 15 pieces are included in the course fee. Additional clay is available for purchase as well. We ask that you bring your own tools and at least four 12" bats.
