Kurinuki & Clay Marbling
Learn two techniques in one class! We'll learn the kurinuki carving technique and then create marbled clay.
This class is available on the third Monday of each month:
- January 18th, 2021
- February 15th, 2021
- March 15th, 2021
Kurinuki – “to carve out” – is a method of making vessels by hollowing and carving a single block of clay. Many people find this process to be pleasantly meditative, and it yields pieces with beautifully organic shapes and textures. We will also learn how to mix two different types of clay to create marbled clay, which can be used for slab building, kurinuki, and more.
Beginners with no clay experience are welcome, but those with a bit of prior experience will get the most out of this class.
After registering, you will receive an email with instructions on where and how you can pick up your materials for the class.
If, after registering, you are unable to attend the class or workshop, we ask for a minimum of four (4) days notice before your class when canceling your enrollment. This allows us time to offer your spot to another person. We can move your enrollment to a future date or give you a refund if we receive ample notice. If we are given less than four (4) days notice, we can offer a 50% refund or credit (ie. 50% off a future booking).
