This class will be held at our new location:
588 Mateo St, Los Angeles, CA 90013
Studio Manager Jorge A. Jimenez Jr will show you the endless possibilities for glaze application during this four week course. This is a great way to learn techniques you haven't seen before and to fine-tune the methods you already know. We'll cover all kinds of materials and methods: dipping, sponging, brushing, wax resist, underglaze, slip, lava and crawl glazes, and more. Each week will be based on a central theme, including cone 5 and cone 10 glazes, surface decoration, and lusters and decals.
As this class is all about the glazing process, students are required to bring in their own bisque pieces. Open studio hours are available to you during this course for you to make your pieces and have them bisque fired, as well as to do additional glazing, but you will want to come to class on the first day with at least one bisque fired piece. If you are unable to do this, contact us after enrolling and we can help.
Potters of all skill levels from beginning to advanced are welcome in this class. You should have enough experience to make pieces on your own so that you have items to glaze during class. If you've completed a Beginning Wheel or Beginning Handbuilding course, this is a great next step.
