Regular price$225.00
/

This continuing wheel course is designed to help you improve your throwing skills while also pushing you to get creative and move out of your comfort zone! Inspired by The Great Pottery Throwdown, each class meeting will have a skill-building challenge followed by a group review and prizes. This class is recommended for advanced beginners and intermediate level potters who feel comfortable with the throwing process; see “Class Outline” for more information.

Each week, potters will be faced with friendly and fun challenges to improve their wheel skills. Learn how to throw bigger, more complex, and more stable forms efficiently. Each class will focus on one category of object or skill which may include: lidded items, nesting bowls, tall vases, throwing off the hump, and more. Bring your ideas! This is about learning to make what you really want to make. At the end of each class, there will be a group review, prizes, and more!

To get the most out of this class, you should feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in the four week Beginning Wheel course, and can somewhat reliably wedge, center, and throw 2.5-3 lbs of clay.

In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open studio hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own.

Continuing Wheel students should bring their own tools and bats (we recommend at least two 12" bats). We have a supply shop at the studio where you can purchase these things if you need them. The course fee includes firing for up to 8 pieces and use of studio recycled clay.
