Momento Mori with Jessica Archibeque

Self-portrait with a dark and beautiful twist! Create an urn that represents who you are, past, present, future. In this workshop, led by sculptural artist Jessica Archibeque you will combine both hand building and wheel throwing to create a unique vessel. For this project an urn can be a symbol of a metaphorical "death" and transformation or celebration of who you already are. Death is not something we talk candidly about and can be uncomfortable for many. Let’s get weird and explore the beauty of the Macabre. Join us for an exploration of techniques such as altering wheel thrown vessels and incorporating handbuilding to create a sculptural aspect.  This class will focus on introducing the basics of sculpture and how to alter wheel-thrown vessels to create a sculptural piece.

Open to both hand builders and wheel throwers, beginners and advanced are welcome! Will tailor direction based on individuals. Intermediate to Advanced is recommended, but if you're a beginner with the gusto feel free to attend.
