Are you interested in throwing bigger, making a set of bowls, or practicing your wheel skills? Move out of your pottery comfort zone and learn to work with more clay in this 4-week continuing course taught by Cat Callaghan. This class will share tips to select an appropriate clay, techniques to use more clay efficiently, work on your centering and pulling, as well as trimming and glazing oversized pieces. See "Class Outline" for more details.

This 4-week class is structured as follows:
- Week 1: Choosing Clay and Throwing wider-based bowls
- Week 2: Trimming large bowls
- Week 3: Throwing smaller-based bowls
- Week 4: Glazing large bowls
Each session will include one or more demonstrations, discussion on techniques and best practices, and work time to develop and gain feedback on your individual process.
This class is for potters interested in refining their skills, pushing what you can currently achieve, and working on fundamentals. Potters should be familiar with all of the steps of throwing and should be able to comfortably center and pull 1.5 lbs of clay. The amount of clay used will vary by student, depending on your current comfort level.
In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own.
Continuing Wheel students should bring their own clay, tools, and bats (we recommend at least four 12" bats). There is a limited supply of tools and temporary-use bats available. We have a supply shop at the studio where you can purchase these things if you need them. The course fee includes firing for up to 3 large (over 10") bowls, and 4 additional pieces and use of studio recycled clay.
