Amy Kivnick was the very first person to sign up for a membership at our Santa Monica studio - and we couldn’t be more fortunate.

At the studio we are constantly in awe of glazes. The ability to transform a simple piece of clay with just a dip, pour or brush strokes is truly magical.

 

Still Life members were encouraged to submit work that is true to their artistic style, or to use this show as an opportunity to try a new style. 

Each time of day at our studios offers its own unique set of benefits and challenges, leaving us to ponder which we truly prefer. 

Your ultimate way to unwind after work: Throw a bowl on the potter's wheel and enjoy a glass of wine.

It's summer! Anyone else feel like the heat came out of nowhere? Just me? We're feeling all kinds of feeling about the beginning of summer and the official end of lockdown. We can't wait to see all your lovely faces!

We've been counting down the days in anticipation for this one: Multi-disciplinary artist Kelly Witmer is coming to our Downtown studio in June.

Can you believe it? As we're learning from our friend Alex Zablocki, the line between clay and glaze is a little more fuzzy than we realized, and a lot of the "rules" we thought we knew about ceramic materials can be broken with glee. 

We've been busy planning our 2022 Kids Clay Camp and we're happy to announce that it's now open for enrollment! We were truly inspired by the creativity of our campers last year and we're eager to see what our next round of young ones creates in June.

Tired of your wheel thrown bowls always collapsing? Are your handbuilt pieces too lumpy? The monotony of making multiples got you down? Give our Mold Making and Slip Casting workshop a try! 

Maybe this is what you call ending a relationship, but in the ceramics world, "cold finishing" means applying non-ceramic materials that don't require firing to a piece. Artist and AMOCA resident Kirsten Willders'​ ​motto is "nothing is too weird!" and this is exactly why we are so pumped up for her workshop on March 26​, 2022​. 

There are so many things to enjoy about this lovely season; at the studio, springtime means more golden sunlight pouring in through the windows in the afternoon, energizing us to create. 

Okay, okay, we make this joke every year, but there aren't many things potters love more than bowls.

Just kidding -- we're keeping all of the things you know and love -- but we have so many fun things in store for 2022. 

 

The next few months are jam packed with programming, we have our first Summer Clay Camp at Santa Monica, and so many talented artists joining us for our workshop series.
