About The Artist

Since his youth, Yoo Sung loved to make and draw. He attended Icheon Design & Ceramics Highschool and upon graduating, he continued a 30 year professional career starting by working at traditional Buncheong and porcelain production studios. He developed the skills that allowed him to open his own practice in 2005.

Yoo Sung’s formal training began with traditional Korean pottery, but his white porcelain work expresses modern sensibility that is added to or subtracted from the teachings of traditional motifs.

Workshops during his very first visit to the US will focus on teaware and tea sets. Participants will learn to make each element of the tea service with attention to detail, function, and form.
